After a sixth wave of deadness that has affected the entire world population, human species has finally disappeared from the face of the Earth and was declared extinct. A new form of artificial and technological life emerges and finds traces of former human existence in film history, and tries to understand it through the images, sounds and narratives that have survived, namely through the character Frankenstein from James Whale film (1931). Following “Keep that dream burning” (2017), “Not Even Nothing Can Be Free of Ghosts” (2016) and “Moon Blink” (2015), Rainer Kohlberger returns to Curtas' experimental competition with “It has to be lived once and dreamed twice”, a work that adopts a more traditional narrative form whilst carrying on its meditation upon the viewers's place and their perception of cinema and other visual arts.
