Ludovic Houplain takes modern world's icons and makes a caustic comment on contemporary society, as was the case in “Logorama”, in which the recreation of a city using logos and characters embodying trademarks in the role of its inhabitants earned him Curtas' Audience Award in 2009 and the Oscar for best animated short film in 2010. In “My Generation”, a pop-coloured animation for musician Mirwais' videoclip, a reverse travelling, from the point of view of a car in an endless highway, takes us on a journey through different forms of contemporary alienation in the shape of theme parks. Contemporary art, sports, religion, sex, politics, finance, and their icons (Duchamp, Warhol, Jeff Koons, Mickey Mouse, the Bible and the Quran, the Charging Bull, the Internet, Cristiano Ronaldo, Donald Trump and hundreds of others) parade in a steady and excessive flow of information. Although the film distances itself from moral judgements, it nevertheless reveals an apocalyptic vision of today's world and establishes itself as a handbook to insurrection for this generation and others to come.
