In the auditorium where Arvid works, the room is fully booked for the grand opening of a concert. By Arvid’s recommendation (according to what he says, at least), his sister was called at the last minute to replace someone in the orchestra, and himself expects to have his own spotlight moment, since he was chosen to act later at the reception party. But when he goes to take his place in the audience, it is already filled by someone more important. From then on, the night seems to take a turn to worse, with no obvious solution. This is a film of dry and intelligent humour, but also kind, that focuses on the protagonist’s social fears and narcissistic issues. His fear of being ignored eventually results in sabotage, by attempting to remedy the situation, and ends up exacerbating a negative spiral, in a parable of modern times, of the neuroses and fears of being in the background – something that this character will not allow in any way. This is the debut of Ernst De Geer in Curtas. (JA)
