Morgan Simon’s latest fiction, “Plaisir Fantôme”, is a short film shot in 35mm which tells the story of a mother, Jeanne, and her daughter Mylene, waiting for a moment of complicity at the end of a school day. In a moment of distraction from her professional routine, Jeanne unfolds the full pleasure for which she longs. With Anna Polina as the main actress, this narrative awakens in the spectator a contrast of perspectives on the discursivity of pleasure. The analogies made about the body as symbolic and pictorial object are highlighted, as is its romantic portrait. “Plaisir Fantôme” was presented at the recent edition of Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes and it marks the debut of the director at Curtas.
