NË MESIN BETWEENSamir Karahoda, 2019 Kosovo,
DOC, 00:13:39Among huge landscape close-ups where one finds, throughout the territory, empty but built spaces, like monument houses, looking the same and at the same distance, Samir Karahoda depicts the stories of rural Kosovo people. These are aged generations, who undertake the project of house building for their emmigrant families, hoping to usher their return to their native country. This is Karahoda’s first short film, stemming from his own photography project about the Kosovo brothers (“Kosovabrothers”, 2011) to enhance the dichotomies of the present community within a colaborative, value-sharing process. “In Between” is a cinematic take on the social and cultural reality of Kosovo, confronting the spectator with the solitude which is part of a constant state of waiting and nostalgia. The director projects the unpredictability of its future use, choosing instead to share the simbolic gesture that fosters the family values of union and harmony and invites the spectator to reflect upon migration issues within the context of globalization.
