This almost abstract narrative is described as an exploration of the concept of constant transformation in a female character, both in herself and in the reality around her, where landscapes and actions are ethereal, transforming themselves without necessarily making sense. The film, shot in Super 16mm, in the inland of Portugal, is mainly a vehicle for the continuity of Pedro Maia’s work in the exploration of the materiality of the film and its manipulation in order to make visible physical aspects that normally are hidden behind the image, including defects and imperfections that in this way acquire aesthetic qualities. Pedro Maia has presented at Curtas several facets of his work, in the experimental competition or of music videos, but also in the concept of live cinema, as it happens this year with the Montanhas Azuis’ project. In 2016, Curtas premiered his feature film “How To Become Nothing” in a film-concert format with The Legendary Tigerman. (MD)
