Directed by French filmmaker Quentin Baillieux, who premieres at Curtas Vila do Conde, “Le Mans 1955” is a short film that recreates the tragedy experienced in the ill-fated edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1955, when many people died, becoming the most lethal accident in motor racing history. The narration begins with the presentation of the Mercedes-Benz car team, Pierre Levegh’s team car, that would lead a night time car skipping and cause the death of 80 people. After some time, the team leader decides to abandon the race in memory of the deceased pilot and the victims of the accident.
