A collection of powerful images reveals remote landscapes: volcanoes, waterfalls, avalanches. Then, several people, apparently unrelated strangers, look through a telescope, in search of a glimpse of the solar eclipse seen in Lisbon the 20th March 2015. A feminine voice reads a letter, written from the edge of the earth where the sun doesn't shine. By revealing the contrast between the two places, it's like these people are actually looking for a distant land, and staring at something quite exotic or unattainable. The letter evokes other places and other times besides the present and the apparent, and questions the role of the viewer as an attentive observer of the world. This is Maureen Fazendeiro and her second film's debut at Curtas, after “Motu Maeva”, which was awarded at Doclisboa. (JA)
