The second cartoon in the «Silly Symphonies» series based on the eponymous fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen (the first was a black-and-white version from 1931). This 1939 colour film won the Academy Award for Best Animation Short Film and also happened to the last entry in the «Silly Symphonies» series.
