DOC, 00:04:39Colma is a small town in California that was founded in 1924 to serve as a graveyard to the unwanted dead of the city of San Francisco. Almost a century later, the city has about a thousand inhabitants and has about two million graves of various religions and nationalities, being known as “the city of the dead”. It is from this initial subtitle that Inês Pedrosa e Melo builds her notes about the life of that small community “without ghosts” that was gathering with some of the inhabitants of this city that survive “at the expense of death”, since the local economy depends on the visitors who come to the city to visit their loved ones buried there.
