IRENEIRENEJoão Martinho, 2018 Portugal,
FIC, 00:15:00This short film by João Martinho takes us on a trip inside a family nucleus, in which the intrusion of a new feminine element comes to disturb the relationship between mother and son. Appealing to a state of imagery ambulation, we are led through the spaces of a family home, passing through the corridors by the rooms (intimate spaces), to the kitchen (neutral territory), putting us in the role of voyeurs of a struggle between two women, in a battle where there are no winners and everyone loses. A film that portrays a coming of age but also an end of an age. Hypnotic, sometimes sensual, “Irene” is a fascinating and mysterious film. (CL)
