Already one of the most talked about films of the year, Buzz Lightyear, the latest Disney*Pixar blockbuster presents the origin story of Buzz Lightyear - the hero who inspired the toy - and follows the legendary Space Ranger on an intergalactic adventure. The film will be presented, in its national premiere, at Curtas, Saturday 9th July, at 3pm. After the film that marks the start of the children and family sessions in the festival, Curtinhas will propose, throughout the two weekends of the festival, an eclectic programme of film sessions for children aged 3, 6 and 9 years old.
In the return to normality, the parallel programming for this section will also return. For the 2022 edition, Curtas will propose three workshops that playfully intend to widen the horizons of visual education of children and youngsters. The workshops are: Celestial Calendar, which explores basic astronomical concepts and the construction of a celestial map (Sunday, July 10, 4 p.m.); Stars in My Room, a plastic arts proposal focused on the creation of stars (Saturday, July 16, 4.30 p.m.); Forced Moonlighting, where creativity is explored and life on a lunar station is imagined (Sunday, July 17, 12 p.m.). Along with the workshops, the festival will also have a children's area called "Playing at the Cinema", which will host several activities for children from 5 to 12 years old, allowing festival-goers to attend the sessions, knowing that at the same time their children will enjoy a place of fun and learning. Closing the programme at Teatro Municipal de Vila do Conde, there will be a closing party for children and adults alike to dance.
New for this edition celebrating the 30th anniversary of the festival, will be the circulation of programming through eight parishes of the municipality of Vila do Conde (Touguinha, Guilhabreu, Mosteiró, Vila Chã, Mindelo, Vairão, Macieira), through the project Cinema Insuflável, a travelling cinema for the little ones, where a selection of works that integrate the general programming of the section will be shown.
