There is something remarkable about the new Spanish cinema and, above all, its cinema made by women, which has been screened frequently at Curtas Vila do Conde.
It's a cinema that gives an account of an imaginary centered on the successive violent economic crises that have struck southern European countries in recent years, while looking at the social balances of a break with a heavy Catholic heritage. Laura Ferrés' work - although still very brief - is already distinctive and aggregates this panorama.
Opening the program dedicated to him by Curtas is the national premiere of his first feature film, "The Permanent Picture". In a rural town in the south of Spain, Antonia, a teenage mother, disappears in the middle of the night, leaving her baby behind. Fifty years later and many kilometers to the north, Carmen, an introverted casting director, is looking for people to share her experiences with when she arrives in a new town. In her search, Carmen will meet Antónia, an impulsive woman who will invade her solitude. Who said that time heals all wounds?
