Over the years, this section has spotlighted directors such as João Salaviza, Leonor Teles, Salomé Lamas, and João Gonzalez, the latter recently nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short with "Ice Merchants".

Among the selected films this year are "Clotilde" by Maria João Lourenço, "Henrique Alves Costa: Cinéfilo Inconformista" by Manuel Vitorino, "Homem" by Fábio Zilberman Iuchno, and "O Tempo das Cerejas" by Clara Frazão Parente, among other titles that explore themes such as identity, memory, body language, and narrative experimentation.

In addition to artistic recognition, directors in competition are eligible for several awards to support their professional development. The Showreel Award grants €2,500 in equipment rental services, while the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ) sponsors a €800 cash prize. The Restart Award offers training worth €800, and the Blit Award, dedicated to best directing, includes €2,000 in post-production services.
