An amateur photographer and two of his friends are looking at pictures that have been taken over a ten-year period all over the world: in the former URSS, in Greece and Cuba. They comment on the images of streets, faces, landscapes and animals. "Si J'Avais Quatre Dromadaires" is a film that can be looked at as if it were a photo album. Marker once compared the taking of a picture to hunting.Without the intention to kill, the photographer is always on the lookout for subjects and situations to be 'captured' on film. Instead of killing, he immortalises his 'victims'. Looking at the pictures never involves a one-way communication: the photo looks back and shows the viewer the look of its maker. The title of this film refers to a poem by Guillaume Appolinaire mentioned above.
