Peter Bogdanovich, the noted film director, author and actor, who has written extensively about the life and films of Orson Welles, introduces the restored version of the little-known Welles subject 'Return to Glennascaul', an Irish ghost story that was filmed in Eire during a break in the shooting of 'Othello'. Nominated for an Academy Award in the 'Best Two-Reel Short Subject' category, and briefly shown in theatres in United Kingdom and the United States, the picture lapsed into undeserved obscurity due to the failure of its distributor, The Rank Organization, to exploit it elsewhere. It as now been restored by Richard Gordon from the best available 35mm pre-print materials and is here presented with a prologue featuring Peter Bogdanovich which tells the fascinating story of the circumstances in which the film was made. Orson Welles is seen on the set of 'Othello' from which he recounts an incident in his life occurred 'one dark stormy night' in the Irish countryside.
