A director like Chahine could not do anything but to contour the order of an Special Reporter, and to replace the imperious journalistic description ('Shooting Cairo!') by a question-shaped artistic project ('Shooting Cairo?'). That previous question ramifies itself into several subquestions inscribed in the short film itself: does the city in question(s) exists? If so, which one? And how to film it?
