The film begins with the picture of a child; a child who could be an abandoned orphan or a young god. Between the child's two scenes at the beginning and end of the film, Artavazd Pelechian expresses humankind's consciousness, feeling both part of the nation and the whole of civilisation. 'I wanted to express the intolerable nature of any form of national animosity, of any form of genocide. A nation's honour cannot be bought with the massacre of other nations. This concerns all peoples.'
