This film is merely a pretext to describe the end of the world, the apocalypse, by way of a gallery of surreal characters. The Gemelli family is made up of three sons, their father Gaetano and a slightly crazy, paraplegic nephew. They live in a state of total destitution in a postmodern Palermo where the world as we know it appears to be a thing of the past. Returning home after their father's funeral, the three sons meet a pair of dwarves, bosses of the local Mafia. They inform the Gemelli brothers they will have a visitor from afar - the mysterious uncle from Brooklyn - and they will be required to hide him in their house for a few days. Obviously, the Gemelli family is unable to refuse them this 'courtesy', and so the guest arrives on their doorstep. But as time passes, no one appears to reclaim the Uncle from Brooklyn, and in the meantime, the man neither eats, nor sleeps, nor speaks...
