Performance with music by Rainer Truby.Ipanema Théories is composed of 19 sequences of different lengths with a common structure. The atmosphere of each 'theory' is determined by a short extract of film that disappears in the final editing. (The Eclipse - Farenheit 451 - Scarface - Viagem Fantástica...)The principal reference is the closing scene from 'The Eclipse' by Michelangelo AntonioniWith the disappearance of the actors and the appearance of the city, we witness an urban moment that is decomposed in multiple shots. The different 'theories' establish a sort of simultaneous topography, which is contradictory at times, and mixes the streets of Hong Kong with the sidewalks of Bangkok and the terraces of Kyoto. Following urban films such as 'Berlin, Symphony of a City', 'Ipanema Théories' establishes connections between places, moments, lighting and transport systems, to construct a sort of multiple and parallel topography, a set of visual beaches. Each part would then be a city that starts as a cinema memory and prolongs itself on the street, on the façades and passers-by.
