A man is inspired by a force greater than himself, and he embarks alone on a voyage. He crosses vast snow-covered spaces, boundaries and a sea to arrive in a foreign country. He chronicles in detail what he sees, those he meets - all that lights his path. In highly-industrialised regions (Germany, Holland), he is carried away into a stream of traffic. He eventually arrives at the doors of a palace that seems almost abandoned. He enters the empty Bojimans Museum of Rotterdam. In the moonlight, he discovers the goal of his voyage is Peter Saenredam's painting 'St. Mary's Square'. To his surprise, he himself may have been present when the portrait was painted in 17th Century...
