Imagine if top groups of DJs, VJs and audiovisual artists completely remixed a bunch of feature films; what would the results look like? Well, London based audiovisual crew and DVD label Addictive TV have set about this cutting-edge creative task. In a digital age where music remixing is so commonplace that it's completely taken for granted, the same sampling (r)evolution is now happening across other media, and movies are set to be the next hot sampling source. As a part of their "Mixmasters" television and DVD project, Addictive TV have commissioned some of the world's leading audiovisual artists and visual mixers to create ten-minute remixes of some classic features and cult B-movies. International artists including Exceeda, Si Begg, The Light Surgeons, Addictive TV themselves, Germany's Bauhouse and US pioneers of the form Brian Kane and Josh Pearson (both founding members of audiovisual act Emergency Broadcast Network) have cut, spliced, audiovisually sampled and generally taken defibrillators to the heart of each film and with a jumpstart, breathed new life into the collection of old movies. The films are from a variety of genres; from westerns, horror, thrillers, science fiction to epic drama, with the different groups of artists bringing their own particular styles to bear in each case. Deconstructed (and playfully reconstructed) narratives emerge, visual trickery abounds and completely new soundtracks have been created, all the while keeping the essence of the original films. Zombies stalk our heroes in the breakbeat denouement of a remixed "Night of the Living Dead" while Audrey Hepburn and a robotic sounding Walter Matthau find themselves strangely discussing the CIA and sandwiches over the phat bass lines of Si Begg.Remixed films include the classics "Nosferatu", Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai" and the Cary Grant & Katherine Hepburn vehicle "Charade" alongside cult genre movies including "Night of The Living Dead" and 70s kung fu imitation Bruce Lee flick "Bruce Li the Invincible". The films and their audiovisual remixers are:1. "Bruce Li The Invicible" remixed as 'Snake Worship Island' by Eclectic Method2. "Nosferatu" remixed by Kane & Fodel (image JPEG 'Nosferatu')3. "Charade" remixed by Si Begg & The Noodles Foundation (image JPEG 'Charade')4. "Vengeance Valley" remixed by The Light Surgeons5. "Night of the Living Dead" remixed by Exceeda (image JPEG "NightLivingDead")6. "Seven Samurai" remixed as "Hungary Bears" by Bauhouse
