Annemiek de Haan (the person portrayed in the [VID] Videowork 'Shift of Attention', 1999) left to her fate in front of the camera while listening to 'A Love Supreme' of John Coltrane. This CD of John Coltrane she associates strongly with the years 1998-1999 when 'Shift of Attention' was recorded. On the 16mm loop the expression on her face oscillates between being aware of her presence in front of the camera and being lost in the past.
