BARULHO #2 (NOISE #2) is a [VID] Video constructed from anonymous, homemade super-8 movies, apparently from the Portuguese Africa of the 60s', and which were acquired at a market and which I painted and digitalized afterwards, in order to sound- and image-edit them. In this work, the devices of the image in movement are quite clear, even bared naked, so to speak. The sequential speed of the images produces a dreamachine-like effect or, in another perspective, a distracted attention, in which is clear that each image is, in fact, an image, and that they are interchangeable, faster than the eye can perceive each one of them. I am quite interested in this vortex-like feeling, the possible confusion of sound and image. As a spectator, it forces me to catch things with a sleight of gaze.
