A betrayed husband plans his wife’s perfect murder. If things don’t go as planned, he still has a plan B. This thriller was filmed in 3D in order to give the audience an experience that TV could not provide. However, at the time, it ended up being released as a normal film and did not get to be shown on 3D. The choice of shots and the close-ups of certain objects show us how Hitchcock meant to explore powerful three-dimensional effects. The director doesn’t conceal the fact that the story is based on a theatre play, (by Frederick Knott, who also wrote the script), concentrating all the action in a living room. The film remains quite theatrical, which does not decrease the tension, quite the contrary. The festival presents a 3D version that has not been seen very often, bringing us closer to how the film was meant to be.
