After “Rhoma Acans” (winner of the Take One! Competition in 2013) where she documented the tense relationship between her family and gypsy tradition, Leonor Teles continues in a similar vein in her new film, again focusing on ethnicity of the Roma people. This time however she goes beyond simply telling a story. After an introductory visual image of prejudice – china frogs in shop doorways to prevent gypsies from entering – she herself becomes the film’s protagonist in a type of performance where she smashes the objects on the street and in doing so breaks the historical segregation.
