SOUNDSCOPE CINEMA is a continuation of the work developed by Jorge Quintela exploring analogue vídeo synthesis generated by audio frequencies. This collaborative performance with the composers and sound artists Rui Lima e Sérgio Martins consists of a work in sound and vision where the image projected on screen is the direct result of the sound spectrum of a musical composition created live. The cinematographic device is transformed into a hybrid of musical experimentation and abstract cinema. The performance is inspired by the first films of the“Absolut Film” movement, founded in the 1920s by the artists Oskar Fischinger Hans Richter, Walter Ruttmann and Viking Eggeling, who sought to convert music and sound directly into abstract images.
