In a contemplative style, we observe three-dimensional sculptures. These objects, seen via film, acquire almost metaphysical properties. They remind us at first of the arid surfaces of the planets that surround us. Or pieces of matter that could build any post-apocalyptic scenario. In fact, Manuela de Laborde uses very small hand-sized prop-sculptures, molded by the artist herself. These sculptures are filmed as existing in a non-space, only filtered by different lights and sound, creating atmospheres that provoke strangeness in the viewer. This is the debut of the Mexican filmmaker Manuela de Laborde at Curtas Vila do Conde. Her experimental work seeks to show forms that confront the viewer with the usual images of cinema and that are at the intersection between the micro and the cosmic scale, like "As Without So Within" clearly shows.
