A first-timer at Curtas Vila do Conde, Camilo Restrepo is a young Colombian artist based in France who comes from the visual arts and who has been trying and exploring alternative ways to tell stories, but who is also very attentive and who is particularly sensitive to the violence and injustices of the contemporary world. Recently premièred at Cannes, at Directors Fortnight, "La Bouche" is a musical performing narrative with a particular impact on forms and materiality, mainly chromatics, textures (with highlight for the use of 16mm film) and ancestral sonorities (where he relies on the collaboration of the Guinean percussionist Mohamed Bangoura). These hypnotic forms that stimulate the most intuitive senses of the spectator highlight the tension of a tragic plot reported by the voices of a group of musicians and performers: a father who loses her daughter murdered in a violent context and asks the Court the right of revenge.
