The new film by Mónica Savirón is based on a well-defined assumption: the work is a collage of deteriorated images with red faded colours on a 16mm film and the final result is intended to disappear over time. The "Answer Print" formulation focuses on the materiality of the film itself. This is a film organised around graphic matches or articulated gestures, or even sound motifs created over the course of several plans. But none of these composition elements is enough to exhaustively analyse the functioning of "Answer Print". In fact, there are only two aesthetic aspects that run through the whole film: the ‘vinegar syndrome’, a degradation chemical reaction which occurs on the celluloid acetate film and that is characterised by a strong vinegar smell, which provides the film a reddish-purple colour and replaces any logical reaction between the shots based on its literal content.
