Using mainly 16mm film, Fern Silva is one of the youngest experimental film artists working in a structuralist way. This is the debut in Vila do Conde. "Ride Like Lightning, Crash Like Thunder" advances associatively, creating patterns of images that show us a rural America. Starting from a picture, Fern Silva uses several images - almost randomly - to suggest representations of the landscape and the way man shapes the world that surrounds it. The experience of the images is also filtered by the diverse songs that appear, creating diverse associative logics. The tone is clearly ironic, giving an account of the idealized representations we create about certain landscapes. (DR)
