Franco-Portuguese post-apocalyptic science fiction, filmed in black and white and in scope, "Le Trésor des Îles Chiennes" (1990) is a surrealistic anti-consumerist and libertarian manifesto, which defends the primal instincts against capitalist industrialization. The story is about a scientist who has invented a new form of pure energy whose disappearance will lead us to a strange island inhabited by cannibals and mad scientists. Also noteworthy is the soundtrack by the Messageros Killers Boys, the band in which Ossang himself is the lead singer, which intensifies the psychological ambience of collective hallucination, with a post-punk sound. Despite being co-produced by Paulo Branco and featuring actors such as Diogo Dória and José Wallenstein, this film never made its debut in Portugal. (PC)
