In his work, Christoph Girardet works from extracts from other films. Thus, through the repetition of certain recurring scenes in classical cinema - mainly film noir - it reveals some rituals hidden beneath the surface of his narratives, in an examination exercise that does not exclude the fascination with glamour. In "It Was Still Her Face", Girardet analyses several excerpts from films in which the common point is the portraits of women, presented as fetish seduction and desire objects, observed by men, fascinated and bewitched by these images. These portraits, that should evoke a presence, are in fact a recall from an absence, and the object of desire becomes the mirror of the spectator, contemplating his own condition of mortality. Girardet is one of the most represented authors in the history of Curtas, which, over the years, has exhibited more than two dozen of his works and where he has already been awarded. In 2002, on the 10th anniversary of the festival, Curtas produced the film "Beacon", directed in partnership with Mathias Mueller. This duo stood out again in, March 2005, with the inauguration of the exhibition "Revisitations", at Solar – Cinematic Art Gallery. (MD)
