Bernardino, man of few words, an emigrant in Canada unable to return to Portugal, buys a Super 8 camera to communicate with his mother through the recordings he performs. When he compulsively films his daily life (travel, work, roads or buildings), as if it was possible to seclude the loss of memory of his mother, he finds another purpose for his recordings: to film so he won’t forget. Many reels later, and without ever stopping to film, Bernardino returns to his archive, to the films from his life, in a confrontation between the expectations of the past and the disenchantment of his return. Luís Costa – present at Curtas 2013 in the Take One! competition with the documentary "Fontelonga" – shows, in "The Eternal Man", a short film on the frontier between documentary and fiction, in which, through filming, stories and confessions, a grandchild goes on a dazzled journey into the life of his grandfather.
