In an isolated castle on the forest edge, a teenager lives with his sister (who is weakened by a lung disease), while their mother dates a gigolo that resembles a prince from fairy tales. Carlos Conceição returns to this territory as he did before on "Boa Noite Cinderela", seasoned by a fertile fantasy and by a fetishist taste for clothes and props, halfway between childhood (the tree house is not missing here) and elegant subversion. The protagonist, in his bunny hat recalling "Donnie Darko", also reminds us of Lewis Carrol’s rabbit, which takes us beyond the limits of logic, to metamorphose into the Bad Wolf. In Conceição’s cinema, the romanticism and the influences of classic cinema - namely the melodrama in its more baroque version - coexist with contemporary narrative elements and with queer and SM references wrapped in dreamlike and psychedelic environments. This rising artist is building a solid and brilliant career in contemporary Portuguese cinema and is already a regular at Curtas, where he won the TAP Prize for Best Fiction in 2014 with "Boa Noite, Cinderela".
