The “recipe” is simple: Pega Monstros are siblings Maria Reis and Júlia Reis, guitar and drums, and from there the music speaks for itself. After several years of playing in various bands, the two Lisbonbased sisters decided to start writing songs and playing some concerts, inspired by a DIY approach. In 2011 they released O Juno-60 Nunca Teve Fita, an EP with 5 tracks with a kind of fast-paced lo-fi sound, where pop, punk and garage rock coexist in an easy and carefree way. Record highlight: the song “Paredes de Coura”. In 2012, they release their first album (Pega Monstro), followed by Alfarroba (2015) - for which they received the Time Out magazine Album of the Year distinction - the collaboration B Fachada Pega Monstro / Pega Monstro B Fachada (2015), and Casa de Cima (2017), always via Cafeteria, publisher founded by the sisters with some friends, in a community spirit that reflects the history of the band. This latest album will be presented live at Curtas Vila do Conde, with live video by Sara Graça.
