In his first feature film, Nadav Lapid concentrates all the obsessions seen in his previous short films. The central character is the policeman Yaron: his identity is defined by his profession and by the certainty that his code of honor is unshakable. Behind this identity is an idea of body worship, chauvinistic and perfect. However, everything is called into question when a group of Israeli "terrorists" kidnaps businessmen in a marriage. At that moment, the order of things is reversed. Yaron will continue to be precise and will fulfill the orders, but when he looks at the dead body of young and beautiful Shira, his perfect world falls like a house of cards. The ambivalence of Israeli identity is thus unmasked as a Westernized society of classes that is motivated by appearance. (DR)
