It's a cold winter night. A car arrives home, a safe place. But here nothing is what it should be. Violence, a firearm, shouting. A girl, dressed as a stuffed tiger, takes the gun from her drunken father, and puts it in the garage. Her unlikely, almost comical, disguise, is one of the few life signs, even if it forces a kind of surrealism that the whole sequence suggests in an almost subliminal way. In this house, this is how it goes, night after night. One can only dream about a different world, made of stuffed tigers. “The Tiger” is Mikko Myllylahti's sixth short film and premiered at Semaine de La Critique, in Cannes. (DR)
