Vanessa is a typical teenager who lives in the suburbs with her mother and skips school to have fun with her friends, at times involving alcohol, soft drugs and the usual conversations about sex. The fact that she is now pregnant is changing her life and will certainly give her a future different from that of her friends, and this is leaving her very scared. Fighting with her mother, and with her father away in prison, Vanessa feels even more lonely and misunderstood after her ex-boyfriend’s disappearance and the endless scheming of a so-called friend. Ostensibly a portrait of a young girl, the film adopts a realist approach with the camera always roving and present, yet “Pas de Confettis” also takes us into the subjective world of the teenager growing up. After featuring twice in the Music Video competition with music videos for Linda Martini and Moullinex, Bruno Ferreira now returns to Curtas Vila do Conde. (PC)
