An adaptation of a short story by Mário Dionísio dedicated to anti-fascist resistance, this is also a story of unhappiness reminiscent of so many others, as well as the evocation of a struggle and of a past that should not be forgotten. A man arrives home only to hear the moment his wife is arrested, finding his house rummaged. Moments earlier, he had been in that same room with his partner and another man preparing underground pamphlets and newspapers with information on the revolution. Helpless, he roams the streets, caught between trying to find out what happened to his partner and realising that he is probably being followed. This is a film of shadows, of loneliness in the face of the darkness of oblivion and repression – feelings heightened by its exemplary photography. This is Daniel Veloso’s debut at Curtas Vila do Conde, following the presentation of his film “Damaia dj’acaba ma inda nu sta pa li” at DocLisboa in 2016. (JA)
