Laura Huertas Millán's film is part of a series of films that focus on the idea of ​​"ethnographic fictions". "Jeny303" emerges almost by chance, as the director picked a 16mm reel which had been used years before to record Building 303 (belonging to the National University of Bogotá where her father once taught) to document the life story of Jeny, a young man whose delinquency was a reaction to an oppressive, coercive and conservative society. The images of that building, now demolished, and the intimate portrait of Jeny result in a real device of political reflection and resistance. Just as Building 303 was, at the time of her father, the centre of many student protests and violent police repression, the streets of present-day Bogota are for Jeny a scene of violence and oppression, in which delinquency and escape through heroin addiction are the only answer. Laura intertwines these two distinct historical realities as if they coexisted in time, thus creating images and voices that connect with one another, to the point where we fail to understand whether we are in the presence of a documentary or a fictional film.
