A woman, her hair in the wind, sees a big flash of lightning in the darkness of the night. What is it that she fears? Why does she avert her eyes? In “Três Anos Depois”, Marco Amaral concentrates once again on a very concise, precise narrative, attempting to show how the spaces seem to shape the characters: devastated, lost, misunderstood. Between the woman and the house she is at, there is a child and another older woman. They seem to be a family but instability and silence prolong a hidden suffering. Marco Amaral has already been at Curtas with the films “Trilátero” and “Outono”. He is now back to the National Competition to show how cinema is a game between what images reveal and conceal. (DR)
