Johann Lurf is a filmmaker – working both for cinema and installation – who seeks in his films to reveal the complexity of moving images and perception. His prime example is in the movie "★", of 2018, which already explored – from material taken from classic films – starry skies’ images. With “Cavalcade”, Lurf intervenes in a real landscape – a stream – with 3D images, in this case a large water wheel. The power of the conflict between real and computer image shows how moving images are always in contradiction with themselves and with their eminence of “representation” or “falsification.”
