A decadent and symbolist Portuguese poet, António Nobre died of tuberculosis at the age of 32 (1900), having published only one book (Só, 1892). A symbolist Brazilian poet, Augusto dos Anjos died of pneumonia at the age of 30 (1914), having published only one book (Eu, 1912). This coincidence is the pretext for Pedro Bastos to invite the spectator to an ambulatory incursion through the dark, gloomy, disquieting and decadent spaces (locus horrendus), where he uses several intertextual references (children’s songs, analogue audio and video cassettes, the organ sonority, among others), and by a chronological frieze that refers to the personal and artistic paths of Nobre e Anjos, where material traces of their existences also cross (words, photographs and x-rays). The whole process is mediated by the physical presence and voice of Pedro Bastos, a filmmaker who returns to Curtas, where he has already presented “Ao Lobo Da Madragoa” and “Cabeça De Asno”. (PC)
