The young Franco-Iranian artist Arash Nassiri debuts at Curtas Vila do Conde with this 3D animation. In a universe laden with representations of artefacts, “Darwin Darwah” is an archaeological journey through the Paris catacombs, where the author focuses on parallel Western history created out of myths from the Internet, available on Youtube, on blogs, and web-forums. These new conspiracy theories, historical periods and geographical points are mingled in an anachronistic overlapping of temporal and spatial layers, as if they were a parallel to the present condition of the digital age. Just as browser tabs can juxtapose a range of themes from different backgrounds, the information from Wikipedia, blogs and film collectively combines to rewrite our past in this parallel Western story.
