“War cannot be played” is the sentence that opens this short documentary animation. The film follows a series of events in popular war game "Battlefield", turning them into a philosophical reflection on the way we consume war. The movie’s premise revolves around “deserters”, that is, the abandonment of service or post by a military without permission of a higher-up, made with the intention of not returning to that post or assignment. In most countries that hold permanent armed forces, the sentence for desertion is usually prison or compulsory discharge. The filmmakers behind this humorous documentary are Austrian trio Robin Klengel, Leonhard Müllner and Michael Stumpf, making their debut at Curtas Vila do Conde. (Beatriz Santos)
