A blurred image slowly takes shape: a girl listening to music on her headphones, while travelling by train, looks at the window and starts to cry. As she gets off the train car, we feel the anxiety and disquiet in her accelerated breathing. Soon after, the afflicted girl starts a mysterious cosmic dialog with an unidentified non-human entity. The entity admits to have been observing the girl, and offers her a few words of advice, as if we are witnessing an interstellar therapy session. “The End Of Suffering (A Proposal)” resembles a weird daydream, disconcerting but soothing at the same time, an intoxicating text in its melancholy and hope, accompanied by a succession of hypnotic and magnetic images that devise another landscape and another planetary perspective. This is Greek filmmaker Jacqueline Lentzou’s sophomore trip to Curtas, after “Thirteen Blue”, in 2015. (JA)
