An epic that unfolds in one afternoon, "Fox" crosses several contrasting emotional states in a short period of time, revealing the fragility of happiness and the speed with which everything can change. On a very hot day in Athens, a mother prepares to go out, leaving Stephanos, the older brother, alone to take care of his two younger siblings as well as Lucy, the family dog which is sick. A heated discussion between the two leaves the mother very upset. Inevitably, she ends up having a car accident, something that only viewers are aware. Stephanos, his girlfriend, who visits him, and his young siblings spend an almost idyllic afternoon, kidding around, sunbathing, enjoying summer laziness and forgetting the rest of the world, until mourning makes an unexpected appearance. This is a beautiful essay on the loss of innocence, broken in a clash with reality. (JA)
