A window into the troubled life of a family living in an apartment in Athens, and particularly into Ellie, a thirteen year old teenager, an only child whose parents are separated. "Thirteen Blue" is an intimate look at the existential awakening proper to adolescence, a period of vulnerability and uncertainty. Exploring the claustrophobia of family life, and a succession of moments through which Ellie is affirming her desynchronization with the rest of the world, Jacqueline Lentzou traces out the emotional kaleidoscope of this teenager going through a process of emancipation. If Ellie can’t find the answers she’s looking for, and if no one around her notices her cry for help, maybe it’s time for her to venture out and choose another way forward. (JA)
