Ellie, a 9-year-old girl who lives in a context of domestic violence, tries to escape her reality taking refuge in a junkyard with her friend Pete. The way they spend time is building a “house” where they can dream of another existence and feel like true “Yard Kings”. Vasco Alexandre wrote and directed this drama, inscribed in the so-called British “kitchen-sink realism” tradition, whose standouts include Ken Loach and Andrea Arnold, addressing real problems of helpless people, exposed to poverty and several forms of violence.
